I absolutely love this tire. The additional traction I feel on dirt, mud, grass, and even gravel is palpable and helps me engage these types of terrain more confidently and aggressively, as compared to the stock tire. The face of the tire is still flat enough to balance comfortably while standing still and the tire shoulder has just enough additional roundness to really enhance carve-ability. Riding on asphalt is also super comfortable and I actually like the sound of the tire better while riding - kind of a small, silly thing but true. Over the last week, I took my OW for the first time on some trails (by far, my favorite riding experience ever) and I’m confident that the experience was much better with the new Burris than it would’ve been with the stock tire.
By the way, a note on changing the tire: I changed it myself using the Jeff McCosker Float Life video on YouTube. I followed it almost to the T (I didn’t use one of those nylon wedges to remove the tire from the motor…for that part I just used my hands, following instructions from another video. It was pretty easy.) and had no problems. I was most nervous about setting the beads. For that part, I used a mix of castile soap and water (castile soap is super slippery and it worked really well) and a manual bike pump. The first bead set around 30 or 40 psi and, for the second bead, I pumped until about 70 psi. The McCosker video advises that pumping to more than 60psi can get a bit dangerous, so I just left the pressure at 70psi in hopes that the pressure would eventually override the friction by itself and, sure enough, it popped/set after less than 5 minutes of waiting. Smooth floating from there…
Final word: Highly recommend this tire.
After trying Hoosier and stock tyre I've now permanently settled on Burris, best all rounder for on and off road.
Really works well
